Alumni and the community gathered together to celebrate Raji Sivapalan's 30 years of service to Montessori East. It was an exceptional night with over 3 generations of alumni present, sharing their talents and memories of their time at ME with Raji guiding them. Raji beamed with joy and gratitude for the community who have supported her and continue to support her on her journey to make a Montessori education available to more families. The event was at Bondi Bowling Club, North Bondi and the night raised almost $55,000 which will be donated to the school's next phase of development. Thank you to everyone who contributed and share the passion for our school. upport and thank you for your generosity of spirit on the night, passion for the school and time invested in making Montessori East what it is today.

Here's a bite size update on the project to say that it's been all systems go behind the scenes, putting the building blocks in place for the early stages of The Lighthouse Project. The property team is looking at options and assessing their feasibility. The finance committee is crunching the numbers and is working on various funding arrangements. It's early days yet, but we hope to have more news on the property front early next year.
In February 2018, we'll open the first manifestation of our expansion with a new facility in Bondi Junction for the under 3 programs, parenting programs and Montessori teacher training facility.

In the second of our collaborative events with the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the screening of Most Likely to Succeed generated lots of post-film discussion. Most Likely to Succeed is a feature-length documentary that reveals the growing shortcomings of conventional education methods in today’s innovative world. This award winning film explores compelling new approaches that engage students, energise teachers and lead to deep, retained learning.
It was a great opportunity to think about the role of education today and to see creative thinking schools such as High Tech High which features in the film.

The annual ME Foundation event brought together families and friends of the Montessori East community. The Lighthouse Project short documentary was launched and our minds turned towards the future vision of this project.
School of Life director Kaj Lofgren, as guest speaker, was a true inspiration and a confirmation that our goal to be the catalysts for change in education and empowering our children for a better world is timely. What Maria Montessori set out to do in 1907 continues to echo true today.
